The history of Optotek® Medical is one of constant growth and innovation. Founded in 1990 as a company specializing in optoelectronic products, Optotek quickly evolved into a leader in the development of medical laser systems. By 1996, the company had produced its first laser systems for dermatology, marking the beginning of its journey into medical device sector.

Over the years, Optotek Medical has introduced several groundbreaking products. In 1999, it launched its first laser systems for ophthalmology, including the OEM YAG laser systems Optimis and the Q-Las, followed by SLT devices SoLuTis and Trabeculas. These products helped establish Optotek’s reputation for reliability and precision, qualities that remain hallmarks of the brand to this day.

In the 2000s, Optotek expanded its product range further, introducing portable slit lamp and advanced laser systems for both dermatology and ophthalmology. These innovations have enabled the company to serve a wider range of healthcare professionals and strengthen its position in the global medical technology market.

A series of strategic acquisitions further strengthened Optotek Medical’s position. In 2008, the company was acquired by Optopol Technologies, and later by Canon Inc. in 2010. This brought Optotek into the Lumibird Medical family with acquisition in 2019, opening up new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Today, Optotek is recognized in the market for its modular YAG and SLT Lasers, providing advanced and adaptable solutions for anterior chamber treatments.
