Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician at Alluxa

The Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician will assist mechanical engineers in designing, building, testing, perfecting, and maintaining products, machinery and equipment to the established company standards. Will facilitate requests for parts fabrication by machine shop. Will diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance as per established standards.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician will assist mechanical engineers in designing, building, testing, perfecting, and maintaining products, machinery and equipment to the established company standards.  Will facilitate requests for parts fabrication by machine shop.  Will diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance as per established standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist engineers with different tasks such as designing, development, testing, and manufacturing mechanical devices.  This could include tools, components, or assemblies.
  • Sketch and create rough layouts, record and analyze data, and report findings after making calculations and estimates.
  • Repair and maintain machinery by diagnosing the issue and making the corresponding repairs.  Responsible for routine maintenance as needed.
  • Implement preventative maintenance plan that prevent malfunctions and comply with workplace safety rules.
  • Analyze machine diagnostic test results and make adjustments to ensure machines are running at optimal performance to meet company specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, including mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Maintain meticulous records of machine service history to use to diagnose and address future issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for self and other co-workers.  Follow all safety rules and procedures as instructed by the Safety Coordinator and as mandated by the company’s safety program and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor and other engineering personnel as well as work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalency
  • 2+ years of industrial/manufacturing experience with mechanical aptitude
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Work with a high degree of accuracy; high attention to detail and prioritize multiple tasks at once
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices
  • Accomplish tasks with minimum supervision
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA Degree/Vocational Certification in Industrial Trade or BS Degree in engineering and/or related discipline
  • 5+ years industry/mechanical engineering experience with increasing responsibility or supervisory experience
  • Experience in optical field is a plus
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of mechanisms and process control systems
  • Review project instructions and prints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives
  • Analyze and interpret data.
  • Be creative and flexible yet has a disciplined approach to process and engineering design.
  • Ability to problem solve with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Expertise in maintenance and installation work on plant electrical mechanisms and equipment
  • Strong math skills
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD design or other program design (Solid Works) helpful
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite (Word; Excel)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Will sit for 20% of time, stands for 80% of time and close eye work 100% of time.
  • Required to reach with hands & arms as well as stoop & kneel
  • The noise level in the manufacturing environment is moderate, but occasionally can be loud.
  • Temperature is moderate within work environment.

These considerations can cause offered compensation to vary. The hiring range for this position is typically $71,548 – $107,323 annually.
