Lead Optics Molding Operator at GS Plastic Optics

May, 2023: GS Plastic Optics, a leader in the precision polymer optics industry, is adding a Lead Optics Molding Operator to their manufacturing operation. This position will work closely with the Optics Team Leader, Optics Molding Operators, Process Technicians, Engineers and Quality Assurance Staff to assist in the goal of exceeding customer requirements and production

Shift hours:
C Shift: Sunday through Thursday, 11:00p.m. to 7:00a.m.
Responsibilities:
• Operates one or more molding machines
• Learns all new jobs to include molding, assembly and CNC machining
• Reviews and follows production work instructions and quality requirements
• Reports production, cycle time, scrap and prints labels
• Inspects Operator’s paperwork, packaging and counts
• Trains new operators
• Completes shift paperwork to include scrap, machine uptime and productions counts.
• Removes product from the injection mold machine, either manually or with robot.
• Visually inspects and “degates” product
• Packages polymer optical lenses of varying sizes and shapes with meet production and customer requirements
• Adheres to the Company standards for manufacturing and process methodology for the injection molding of polymer optics
• Reads, understands and implements all process, quality and safety instructions for assigned jobs and equipment used for those jobs
• Adheres to the process control plans for the manufacturing line
• Advises management when procedures are not adequate and need review
• Takes inventory to see if one has all required materials and accessories readily available to perform job and replenishes supplies for the next shift before leaving
• Helps to alert team members that perform preventative maintenance, modification, repairing and handling of molds.
• Participates in a program of continuous improvement including innovation, process optimization, improving customer satisfaction with focus and urgency, cost reduction, introduction of new manufacturing processes and capital equipment justification.

Skills/Experience/Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in Precision Optics Manufacturing and Plastic Injection Molding
• Understanding of the quality standards for a clean work space in the operations department.
• Experience with customer satisfaction requirements.
• Ability to follow and adhere to safe work practices and leads by example.
• Must be able to perform basic math functions.
• Excellent communication skills.
