Variable expanding of high power laser beams

Sill Optics presents the new zoom beam expander S6EXZ0940/574 which is suitable for high power UV lasers at 355 nm. The optical design enables a maximum beam diameter at all lens surfaces inside the beam expander for each magnification from 0.9x up to 4.0x. The telescope has a ghost free design which protects the lenses against damages. Furthermore special low absorption coatings and fused silica as a lens material enable the usage with high power ultra-short pulsed lasers.

Laser process inline observation with variable focus lens

Observation is one of the most important laser machining process parts. The problems of an observation through the scan lens are the color errors produces by a not color corrected scan lens.
The lateral color shift cannot be corrected by the observation lens but the working distance difference and the chromatic focus shift can be minimized by the new telephoto lenses S5VPJ0303 and S5VPJ0305 which include a tunable focus lens for this task. Trapped ion lenses for qubit development

During the last few years the performance of our computers has increased while their size has been reduced. But there is a physical limit on this development because quantum effects play a significant role on very small sized transistors.
Quantum computers use the laws of quantum mechanics and they are a promising research area. Trapped ions are often used as the core of qubits because of their ability of staying in superposition for a long time. A combination of a Paul trap and a specialized trapped ion lens can be used to slow down trapped ions and modify their states. These lenses are typically color corrected for a few wavelengths and have a very high NA in order to create a fine focus on top of the ion which is located at a vacuum chamber.
Normally customized lenses are necessary but sometimes a catalog lens can be used or modified a little bit for the application.
