Final cancellation of the W3+ Fair Wetzlar 2021 – restart in 2022
May, 2021: The W3+ Fair 2021 in Wetzlar (w3-fair.com) is finally cancelled. The innovative trade fair was originally planned for February this year. The date was last postponed to 6 + 7 July. Now the organizer must pull the plug also here due to Corona: Despite sinking incidences and a positive atmosphere there are still too many barriers, which make the actual reason of the fair – networking – impossible. The new start for the fair is now planned for 16 + 17 March 2022 in Wetzlar. Until then, there will be enough time to collect new topics and ideas and thus support the high-tech community in networking and new business in the best possible way.
Project Director Jörg Brück: "We as organizers are very sorry, especially for our exhibitors and partners, because a lot of heart and soul has gone into the preparations. However, after all the positive feedback and the many new suggestions of the last few weeks, we are now focusing on an even stronger trade show in March 2022." During the last event at the end of February 2020, shortly before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, 180 exhibitors met just over 2,800 visitors.
Not affected by the cancellation is the W3+ Fair 2021 in the Rhine Valley, which will open the high-tech trade fair autumn in the four-country region at Lake Constance from 22 + 23 September 2021, as planned. The event sees itself as a door opener to the high-tech region with its focus on research and development.
Until then, the photonics industry will have another opportunity for contacts and new leads by participating in the PHOTONICS+ Virtual Exhibition and Conference (photonicsplus.com), in partnership with EPIC. The digital event, which started in February with 338 exhibitors and over 3,500 visitors, will now go into the next round on 29 + 30 June 2021.

About the W3+ Fair
The event is the result of an industry initiative in Wetzlar and Central Hesse that aims to promote networking between the four sectors of optics, photonics, electronics and mechanics. New interfaces are intended to get forward-looking technologies off the ground. The trade fair was held for the first time in February 2014 at the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar. W3+ Fair is hosted by the Hamburg-based trade show organizer Fleet Events (fleet-events.de). In September 2019, W3+ Fair Rheintal celebrated its premiere in the four-country region of Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany with Gold Partners EPIC, Swissphotonics and Photonics Austria.
