Berliner Glas Group at Compamed
09 November 2018, 12:11 pm – OptoIndex

The Berliner Glas Group is presenting its broad portfolio at this year’s Compamed, the trade fair for suppliers and manufacturers of medical technologies, from November 12 – 15, in Hall 8a, Booth F35.
The product portfolio of the Medical Applications business unit of Berliner Glas in Berlin includes multi-chip prism assemblies (RGB and VIS/NIR), autoclavable lenses, and highly complex 3D measurement cameras for digital dental imprints. The demand to precisely join complex optical, mechanical, and electronic systems requires the highest level of pretreatment and assembly technology. This means that even the smallest defects are not permitted in 4K image sensors. The response to this challenge includes clean rooms of the highest cleanliness classes, cleaning systems (ultrasonic and megasonic), and plasma pretreatment.
Berliner Glas developed a versatile assembly device for positioning purposes in the μ range. This system can be used to simultaneously align electro-optical components, such as image sensors, in six degrees of freedom better than 1μm each, and fix them permanently to this accuracy. Moreover, four lens systems can be precisely aligned with one another at the same time. The strength of the new device is the flexible layout that can be retrofitted quickly and inexpensively. The system is thus exceptionally well suited for the small and medium unit quantities typical to medical technology, between several 100 - 1000 pieces per year.

More information can be heard in the presentation "The new Berliner Glas Universal Alignment Tool – A smart solution for high precision" on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 3:10 p.m. at the COMPAMED HIGH-TECH FORUM 2018 of IVAM (Hall 8a, Booth G40). Admission to this talk for fair visitors is free-of-charge.
The Technical Glass division is presenting glass touch units at the booth in Dusseldorf, which will work reliably even in continuous operation and will function safely and be readable in extreme environmental conditions. This is accomplished through touch lamination, which can be adapted individually to customer specifications.
Berliner Glas Technical Glass also has extensive expertise in combining refinement technologies. The selection is diverse and, depending on qualities and desired function, the business unit develops tailor-made solutions for its customers and supplies with ready-to-install display modules, assembled and ready for installation in their system.

In addition, SwissOptic is presenting modules for laser beam shaping and guidance. These allow, among other things, precise control of the laser beam in refractive eye surgeries, thus contributing significantly to positive surgical results.
Lenses and accessories for microscopy, as well as customized optical components for a variety of life science applications, will be also displayed.
